By Robert Jordan, part of the Wheel of Time series.
The Wheel of Time series consists of 14 books where 11 has been published as this review is written. The last 3 books has been co-authored by Sanderson, do to an illness that Robert Jordan is in treatment for and died off in 2007. By then 11 books had been published. This is the second book in the series.
Wikipedia got this to say. WARNING SPOILERS!
Ok…. This is getting really annoying. After the first two books, I looked forward to get a bit of closure on things and start on next stage of things, but no… Again we start as if we had just left another chapter in the other book and this time we end up with 4 different plotlines to follow. This is getting needlessly complicated and kind of ruins the reading experience. We are stuck with politics, that I have no doubt will mean a lot for the future books, but honestly it is kind of annoying having to read through it right now, instead of getting the ‘boring’ details when they are needed. I must admit that I had to stop after having listened to over half of this book, being rather confused and disgusted with the plots, messing around and making things more and more complicated. Not something that I consider good relaxing reading.
I think I will stop reading the series now. It is way to long and things are drawn out in long strings, even leaving you with loose ends all over. I wish that at least the side plots could be worked out in each book instead of this mess…
I am sorry that this is the end of a promising series for me, especially since Robert Jordan does a great job expressing himself, he just doesn’t have any control over how the plots should be put in to the story….
