Updates and all that stuff

September 5, 2019 on 5:35 pm | In Server | No Comments

Well it’s been a busy week. Hurray for vacation! I finally get time to do some of the things on the test servers here, that I’ve been thinking about for ages… So here are the new things:

PHP 7.0 and 7.1 removed!

Well it’s kind of strange to say it, but we are already removing PHP versions from the 7 branch. In my ears that sounds crazy, as it’s not that long ago that it came out, or am I just getting old and senile? ;) But as they are deprecated and no longer in development, out they go. SO now we just have PHP 7.2 and 7.3 running. 7.4 is on it’s way.

Removing insecure cipher and SSL protocols.

SSL is the only way to view webpages these days and with HTTP2 moving on fast, it’s time to ditch some of the worse offenders. So SSL2 and SSL3 has been disabled for a while, but now I’ve removed support for TLSv1.0 and TLSv1.1 as well, plus a lot of weak ciphers. So even if we don’t host any sensitive info, we can now rest knowing that we have secured the system!

Debian 10 Buster

We’ve gotten Debian 10 Buster on the server setup again. Hurray! Not much to say about it beyond that.

G’Bye to webmail

As no one ever used the webmail system, I’ve decided to remove it. It’s just a security risk, having it open and not in use. So out it went. If anyone think that’s a bad idea, poke me, Ok?

Yep by popular demand, I’ve reinstalled it ^^;
